LITTLE COMPTON, RI | SCHEMATIC DESIGN PHASE
On a seven-acre property of former farmland in Little Compton Rhode Island, we are in schematic work for a landscape master plan and residential design to accompany renovations to a family retreat.
The masterplan looks create a landscape that is productive from both an agricultural and ecological perspective. The client's interest in tree propagation will lead to an accumulative orchard and tree nursery to be developed over time. Simple mowed paths between native meadow mixes will provide clean edges and keep maintenance manageable. The majority of the acreage will be managed as a variety of restored meadows and native woodlands.
Along with modern renovations to the home, the landscape is tamed as you approached the homestead. Simple lines and geometries will define outdoor rooms as an extension of the interior. Low groundcovers, Paper Birches, and crush stone, slate, and cedar elements with modern detailing integrate to both the home and the rustic character of landscape context.
